With great sadness, the Quarter Century Club NSW Incorporated advises members of the passing of one of our most respected members.

Hilton McKenna joined IBM in October of 1964. It was obvious from the beginning that he would be an IBM’er who would rise rapidly through the ranks. He quickly earned the respect of his peers and of IBM customers through his dedication to providing excellence in service.

Hilton’s talents were quickly recognised and many promotions ensued. He was offered and undertook positions in various IBM locations and in different parts of the business. He always presented with a wry sense of humour and a ready smile. But, importantly, he got the job done and did it right and no challenge was too difficult to accept.

In later life, Hilton had a long illness and was cared for beautifully at home by his loving wife, Anne. His passing at the age of 73 closes the chapter on this remarkable individual who did so much for IBM and his fellow IBM’ers.

A service was held at the Camellia Chapel at Macquarie Park on Tuesday 23 July.

Published on behalf of the Quarter Century Club Incorporated.

  1. Wow – reading about Hilton had a big affect on me yesterday.
Within weeks of Grahame Legge also passing away, I wonder & start to challenge myself – why am I still dedicated to a working life.
I reported to Hilton for 2 years right up to his retirement in Sydney. He had a wonderful dry wit but always professional. At the last Christmas party in Sydney he took to a step ladder to wish his 100+ staff an Excellent Season.
I plan to call a number of his other Managers at that time today (who never qualified for QCC), but will be just as saddened to hear of his passing.
