  1. I’ve received a reply from the software developers for ProfileGrid which is the WordPress plugin we are using the manage user profiles.

The reply is not that helpful. It basically says that the software is working-as-designed.

The only suggestion is to use the settings which affect the minimum width. After running a number of tests, I’ve found that a minimum width of 800 for the cover image (i.e. the landscape image) looks like a good compromise. There’s no setting for the minimum or maximum height. It is fixed at 300.

    In summary:
    1. The ideal size for a cover image is 1176 x 300.
    2. The minimum size for a cover image is 800 x 300.
    3. The ideal size for a profile image is 200 x 200.
    4. The minimum size for a cover image is 150 x 150.

  2. Peter,
There are 2 different images for a User Profile: a Profile Image and a Cover Image.
The Profile Image is a square thumbnail size image which is ideally 200 x 200. I’ve not had any problem in creating a Profile Image.
The Cover Image is a landscape image which is ideally 1176 x 300.
However, when I create an image which is exactly that size and try to upload it as my Cover Image I get an error message which says that the minimum size is 1176 x 400.
When I then create an image which is 1176 x 400, I can upload this but I then have to crop it to 1176 x 300.
    This is very confusing.
I’ve now raised a Support Ticket with the software provider to ask for this anomaly to be fixed.
    Regards, Tom
